About The Deep

Introduction to the Deep Underground

The Deep Underground is the story of Ada and Ky, two evolutionary freaks trying to survive in a dystopian future. The Deep itself is the underground portion of a utopian City. Those who live in the Deep are either proles–the unmodified humans and dregs of society, or Transies–evolutionarily advanced humans that look anything but human. Those who live in the City are the Norms,  evolutionary advanced humans that still appear normal and the Descendants, advanced humans that are directly descended from the founders of the city, in short, the Blue Bloods of the evolutionary chain.

Ada and Ky find themselves battling daily to keep their heads above the local prole wars as well as dodge the Enforcers.  Enforcers are an elite group of police that were created by the Genetics Council, the ruling body of the City, to keep peace in the City and ensure the people in the Deep stay where they belong.

Behind the Story

Everything has a beginning.  This beginning started with a simple role-play forum that has since fallen off the face of the internet.  The Deep Underground is very loosely based on a role-play environment that another role-player had created.  I would give credit where credit is due, but unfortunately I cannot locate said player.  So, if you’re out there and you read this, contact me so we can make sure everything is squared away.

And now to the story.  I’d been toying with the idea of making The Deep into a novel.  But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that to stay true to the story, a webserial was the way to go.  After all, this started out as a role-play thread.  And truly, I think the best way for me to stay dedicated to writing this story is to make it serialized.
